PALMYRA DELRAN
Palmyra Delran is an American rock and roll musician, songwriter, guitarist and producer who was born in Princeton, New Jersey. and later moved to Philadelphia. She played in seminal 1990s Philadelphia-area rock bands The Friggs and Pink Slip Daddy, as well as several of her own solo releases and recordings.
Little Steven Van Zandt was a reported fan of Delran's previous band, the Friggs, and attended their 2008 NYC reunion show. After striking up a conversation with Palmyra, he learned of her new six-track solo EP She Digs the Ride. He added it to the Little Steven's Underground Garage playlist, picking "Baby Should Have Known Better" as a "Coolest Song in the World This Week", followed by radio listeners voting it "Coolest Song in the World" for 2008, which gained Delran considerable attention for her efforts.
The EP was followed up in 2013 with You Are What You Absorb, Delran's first full-length solo effort. The album included the single "You’re My Brian Jones", featuring a music video directed by Daniel Henry, and shot on location in Nashville. Little Steven continued his support of Delran's work, voting "You're My Brian Jones" his No. 1 song of the year. In 2013, the songs "Shy Boy" and "Some Day Soon" ranked among favorites on Steven's and many Underground Garage DJ lists. Steven also voted the full album You Are What You Absorb as the No. 3 best record of 2013.
Delran tours the East Coast, Scandinavia, and the West Coast each year, and released a new single in spring/summer of 2014, "Run Now Baby" b/w "Yeah Yeah Yeah." The single was recorded in LA with Dave Klein & Bubble Gun, and features special guest Kim Shattuck from the Muffs.
MARC VALENTINE
As frontman of cult British power-pop outfit Last Great Dreamers, Marc Valentine has brought sparkle to venues and turntables alike with his distinctive vocals, wry charm and songbook of secret classics. Now, with his favourite guitar in tow, he's heading out on a solo adventure, loading his flight case with a fresh set of tunes, and polishing the trademark twinkle in his eye.
Debut album Future Obscure sees Valentine building on his past while expanding his sonic palette, to craft a collection of should-be hits – 7-inch-shaped songs that move both body and mind. The album is produced by Dave Draper (The Professionals, Wildhearts, Ryan Hamilton). Recorded with friends old and new, and featuring collaborations with Wreckless Eric and The Boys' Matt Dangerfield, this is a reflective, sometimes defiant album in the golden-era tradition – a pop record from the heart, packed with songs to holler, heal and hold.
MUCK & THE MIRES
Boston's MUCK & THE MIRES were once described as “a mix of the 1964 Beatles and The Ramones” by legendary Runaways producer Kim Fowley (Fowley went on to produce several of the band’s records). The group achieved worldwide recognition after they were crowned #1 US Garage Rock Band by LITTLE STEVEN Van Zandt in his battle of the bands on MTV. They have performed coast-to-coast in the USA, UK, EU, South America, Canada, Mexico and Japan. And they have shared bills with many of their heroes including The Sonics, The New York Dolls, Ray Davies (The Kinks), The Flamin' Groovies, The Stooges, and even a Beatle - Pete Best!
The band’s lineup features founding members Muck (ex-Voodoo Dolls/The Queers) on vocals and guitar, Jessie Best on drums, Pedro Mire (ex-The Apehangers) on lead guitar and long-time bassist John Quincy Mire. When they are not on the road, you can hear Muck and the Mires being broadcast and streamed everywhere including in SIRIUS XM's Underground Garage's where their hit "I'm Your Man" was voted the first "COOLEST SONG IN THE WORLD". Their latest album, BEAT REVOLUTION will be released later this year.

RICHARD LLOYD OF TELEVISION
Best known for his work with the ground-breaking group Television, Richard Lloyd is a strikingly gifted guitarist who has created an impressive body of work both as a frontman and as a collaborator with other musicians. Capable of bold, angular patterns as well as elegant, languid melodic lines, Lloyd first found acclaim for his work on Television's first two albums, Marquee Moon (1977) and Adventure (1978). Lloyd's solo career took a while to take off as he struggled with personal demons, but with 1985's Field of Fire, a highly personal and explosive set, he reaffirmed his status as a major talent. Lloyd impressed audiences as a sideman in his work with John Doe (1990's Meet John Doe) and Matthew Sweet (1991's Girlfriend and 1993's Altered Beast), and he helped to revive the influential pre-punk band Rocket from the Tombs with a series of live shows as well as the 2003 album Rocket Redux. And in the 2000s and 2010s, Lloyd put a new emphasis on his solo career with albums such as The Cover Doesn't Matter (2000), The Jamie Neverts Story (2009), and Countdown (2018).
Richard Lloyd was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1951. Developing an interest in music as a youngster, Lloyd started out as a drummer, taking lessons from noted percussionist William Kessler. However, when Lloyd saw the Beatles appear on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, he fell in love with rock & roll, and as he dug deeper into the work of the British Invasion artists then dominating Top 40 radio, he became more aware of the jazz and blues musicians who influenced them. Lloyd quit the drums to take up the guitar, and in the late '60s, he became friends with Velvert Turner, a fellow guitarist who was mentored by the legendary Jimi Hendrix. Turner passed along what he had learned from Hendrix to Lloyd, and Lloyd also soaked up plenty of other influences, attending shows by the likes of Led Zeppelin, John Lee Hooker, the Who, Jeff Beck, the Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers Band. Lloyd also had a knack for getting backstage at shows, and he often had a chance to meet and compare notes with guitarists he admired. Deciding the guitar was where his future lay, Lloyd began taking his guitar with him to high school every day instead of his books. He eventually had to repeat his senior year at a different school, where he became friends with Al Anderson, another guitarist who would go on to play with Bob Marley.
After spending time in Boston and Los Angeles, in 1973 Lloyd settled in New York City after hearing about the New York Dolls and believing that the city's rock scene held promise. Lloyd shared an apartment with Terry Ork, an artist and music fan who did silk screening at Andy Warhol's Factory and also worked at Cinemabilia, a bookstore devoted to material on movies. One of Ork's co-workers at Cinemabilia was Richard Meyers, an aspiring writer and musician who, using the stage name Richard Hell, was playing in a band called the Neon Boys. Ork believed the band needed a second guitarist, and he introduced Lloyd to Hell and his bandmates Tom Verlaine (aka Tom Miller) and Billy Ficca. The Neon Boys evolved into the band Television, and they landed a Sunday night residency at CBGB, a club that had opened on New York's Bowery. The guitar interplay between Lloyd and Verlaine became Television's hallmark, and Television began attracting larger crowds as a new music scene began growing out of the Bowery club, which would come to be known as punk rock, even though Television's music sounded very different than the fast-loud attack of groups like the Ramones. Word began to spread about the band, and in 1975 Television recorded a demo tape with Brian Eno producing. No labels opted to sign Television, and Hell soon left the band, with Fred Smith, formerly of Blondie, took over on bass. Later in 1975, Ork founded the Ork Records label to release Television's debut single, "Little Johnny Jewel," which spread the word about the band far outside New York City, and in 1976, they landed a deal with Elektra Records.
Television's debut album, Marquee Moon, was released in February 1977, and was a major critical success, and the band toured extensively in support. April 1978 saw the release of Television's second studio album, Adventure, which was also well-liked by critics but didn't live up to commercial expectations. The failure of Television to break through commercially, coupled with creative differences within the band, led them to break up in July 1978, and Lloyd soon launched a solo career. Lloyd released a solo album in 1979, Alchemy, and the title track received airplay on alternative rock outlets. However, sales were unimpressive, and personal problems sidelined Lloyd for several years. In 1985, he struck a deal with a Swedish label, Mistlur Records, and cut an album with a handful of Scandinavian musicians. The results, Field of Fire, was a critical success and sold well in the United States as an import before the Moving Target label made it available in an American edition. In 1987, Lloyd issued Real Time, a live album recorded at CBGB that featured songs from his tenure with Television as well as his solo career.
In 2007, Lloyd announced that he was severing his ties with Television to focus on his own projects; the group continued to perform on occasion, with Jimmy Rip taking Lloyd's place in the group. In 2010, Lloyd completed the album Lodestones, and made it available as a digital download. 2016 brought the release of another solo effort, Rosedale; Lloyd handled most of the instrumental work himself, though it also included contributions from Television drummer Billy Ficca, as well as Chris Frantz, formerly of Talking Heads. In 2017, Lloyd published his autobiography, Everything Is Combustible, with paperback and e-book editions arriving the following year. In 2018, Lodestones was given a limited-edition reissue on vinyl for Record Store Day, and in October of that year, Lloyd followed it with the album Countdown, recorded during two days of sessions in Nashville. When not busy with writing, recording, and performing, Lloyd offers guitar lessons both in person and via the internet; he's also written an instructional column for Guitar World magazine.

THE SADIES
Dallas Good – Vocals, Guitars
Travis Good – Vocals, Guitars, Fiddle, Banjo & Mandolin
Sean Dean – Bass
Mike Belitsky – Drums
“Colder Streams” is the sound of everything coming together for The Sadies. Long confident that the result of their recordings is far more important than adhering to any schedules or deadlines - they took their time on this one.
The songs here are ambitious and accomplished. Having had that extra time to grow benefited these tracks, and they stand up alongside any of their earlier work. As Mike Stax of Ugly Things Magazine once opined “Most bands only get worse with age - much, much worse – The Sadies continue to confound us by getting better and better”.
This record is pure Sadie - as the band has long referred to itself. From the moment ‘Stop and Start’ blasts out of your speakers like some long-lost nuggets monster, through the cinematic closer ‘End Credits’, it’s the sound of an experienced, confident band at the peak of their powers. You will hear a new favourite song with nearly every spin.
The pandemic offered The Sadies the gift of time and the opportunity to record comfortably with Producer Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire/Belle Orchestre) at his Montreal studio. The ease of working with their dear friend helped create what Richard feels “is The Sadies’ finest album and the one I always hoped they’d make one day.”
The recording was ably assisted by engineers Pietro Amato at Richard’s Skybarn Studio, and Mike Dubue for the two songs tracked at his Studio Cimetière. Jon Spencer contributed guitar to a track, as well as Dallas & Travis’ parents, Bruce and Margaret Good, adding autoharp and backing vocals respectively.
Once finished, the band were eager to get out and play in support of this new album. Tour plans were already well underway when the devastating news of Dallas’ unexpected death on February 17th, 2022, stopped everything in its tracks.
Needing music to help process and heal, Travis worked out new arrangements for many of the “Colder Streams” tracks. This labour of love had him combine both his and Dallas’ guitar parts, as well as tackling vocals for all these songs by himself. Travis, Mike and Sean convened to see if it might be possible to play some of these songs without Dallas, making no bets on whether that would be successful, and agreeing to leave it alone if it didn’t seem right to do it.
After three days of rehearsal, the band felt it appropriate, cathartic even - to continue playing. This decision to play both to honour Dallas’ memory and to promote the release of the album that supporters had waited so long to hear. Performing these shows was a positive and healing experience for all involved and helped the band realize that they want to continue doing this as long as it feels right.
At the JUNO Awards in Edmonton in March of 2023, The Sadies won the JUNO for “Colder Streams” for Adult Alternative Album of The Year, a proud but bittersweet moment for the band. Most recently “Colder Streams” made the Polaris Music Prize Short List for 2023.
Extensive touring continues, honouring the legacy of what Dallas created, ensuring that the huge body of work they made together is kept alive and out there for loyal fans and new that have yet to discover this amazing band.

After playing for 20 years, Michael Coppola, on a mission to solve the age old problem of executing jazz piano voicing on guitar, created a tuning for an 8 stringed instrument. This new type of guitar, with inner high end strings was the predecessor to the 9 string "hydra", which became Coppola’s instrument for life.
Michael Coppola has become one of a small handful of guitarists who have pushed the boundaries of the instrument, and the only to come up with this unique tuning. Reviews of his CDs have been filled with descriptions such as unique, amazing, mindboggling, magical, inventive and so much more.
He has played at major guitar shows and concerts throughout the world including the
Montreal Jazz Festival, The Chet Atkins Festival, Namm, and many others, as well as
some of the country’s top jazz clubs such as the Blue Note, The Iridium,
Knickerbocker and many others.
Mainly a solo artist, Coppola has also performed or recorded with many of today’s top
musicians, especially guitarists such as Gene Bertoncini, Jack Wilkins, Tony Purrone,
Howard Alden, Stephen Bennett, Tommy Emmanuel, and Joscho Stephan. Michael
was a regular guest on Monday nights at the Iridium, invited by Les Paul himself.
Lately, he has been performing with his 17 year old prodigy daughter Michaela, who is
the CT high school Allstate jazz guitarist as well as the national honor ensemble jazz
guitarist (#1 in the country).
Michael Coppola’s album Return Of The Hydra was chosen as a top ten pick for the
year 2002, in Coda Magazine. His original composition "Movin", released on the New
Impressions album, was a winner in the 2002 John Lennon Song Competition.
Reviews and articles about his work have appeared in numerous magazines including:
Guitar Player, Just Jazz Guitar, Jazztimes, 20th Century Guitar, and Fingerstyle
Guitar. Michael was listed as a main entry in acclaimed critic Scott Yanow's 2013 book
"The Great Jazz Guitarists, the ultimate guide". Yanow names Coppola "The master
of the 9 string guitar".
BLICK BASSY
Indie pop and afro-soul sounds enthusiast, deeply rooted in the African continent, the very talented Cameroonian singer-songwriter Blick Bassy will soon unveil his new album (InFiné).
Blick Bassy has chosen to address the environment, particularly the burning issue of water, on its new album due out in the spring of 2023. Known for his vibrant live performances, he will present it on stage.
At the confluence of several living sources, navigating between Africa and the West, Blick Bassy's music – for which he mainly uses Bassa, its mother tongue – is distinguished by its mix as much as by its density. Tending towards the essential, it reaches a high emotional level.

BELLA'S BARTOK
"Apocalypse WOW! has just been released, with the promise of shining light in the darkest depths of this cruel world, BUT O! the beauty of the people within it! It’s the juxtaposition of the inevitable — death, sadness, loss — with the will to rage against them that makes Bella’s Bartok’s latest offering so irresistible. Our rage doesn’t take the form of anger or bitterness. It’s the rage of stubbornly holding onto a moment of happiness even in the darkest moments. By the time the album ends, you will be cleansed, you'll be able to stare into the abyss of hopelessness and despair, and choose hope.
Spread that fire of joy unto others and take a little bit of us home with you, for your listening pleasure. The inevitable end may be rather nigh, but together, we have only just begun.
Hearts and stars,
Bartok"
“Live your fantasy and embrace the stranger side of life with Bella’s Bartok. AUDRE MAE
Audrey Mae features the duet harmonies of bluegrass veterans Peter Winne and Joe Delillo accompanied by the tasteful stylings of banjo player Joe Lemeris and fiddle & mandolin player Sam McDougle. Despite being a generation apart, Winne and Delillo evoke brother harmony groups such as The Stanley Brothers, The Blue Sky Boys, The Everly Brothers, and yes, even The Beatles. Named after Delillo’s mother, an Alabama belle named Audrey Mae, the band delivers a brand of bluegrass that is at times high octane and at other times just plain … lonesome.

W.D. MILLER
W.D. MILLER is the country soundtrack to the deep South’s oldest roots. W.D. hones in on earnest storytelling and song craft, keeping in the tradition of country and folk songwriters. Channeling equal parts John Prine and Merle Haggard with a dash of Tom Waits, his honky-tonk country hymns and folky ballads keep boots stomping and tears flowing, whether touring through Germany or taking a full ensemble band on the highways and byways of America’s back roads. W.D.’s solemn guitar chords and gravelly intonations sing to the vagabond, disaffected spirits of country music’s past, while carving a new voice from traditions of rock n’ roll, blues and folk. W.D. MILLER performed at Muddy Roots Festival, Southbound and Down, Festival of the Red as well as regional tours throughout the southeast, proving this is a voice that speaks to the true heart of country and folk music. W.D.'s sophomore album "Hard Times Like These", was released in March 2022.

ALAN WALKER
Alan Walker was formerly the lead singer and keyboard player for New York City's rootsy/melodic pop legends The Brilliant Mistakes, who were aptly named after a song by one of their songwriting mentors, Elvis Costello. The band frequented the downtown NYC club scene from the early 90's through 2011, and played across the US, from Portland, ME to Southern California, from Austin, TX to Milwaukee, WI, and were independent radio favorites along the way (WFUV, WFMU, WFDU, WXPN among many others). They released three records which are still available on CD through Alan's website and on all streaming services.
After releasing his first solo album in 2018, Something Up My Sleeve, Alan is close to releasing his second solo effort with special guests Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Lucy Kaplansky and Jon Herington (of Steely Dan). He will be performing songs from both records as well as an oldie or two from The Brilliant Mistakes catalog, backed by a stellar backup band made up of John Putnam on guitar (Richard Shindell, Jimmy Cliff), Mike Visceglia on bass (Suzanne Vega, John Cale) and Denny McDermott (Donald Fagen, Graham Parker).

THE SPLIT COILS
The Split Coils are a Valley band. From the literal banks of Connecticut’s mighty Housatonic, they play down-to-earth, melodic power pop informed by songwriter/guitarist Jay Russell’s time in bands like Hot Rod Circuit and Diamond J and the Rough. His wife Katelyn Kazukynas Russell adds sweet harmonies and rhythm, making it a family affair. It’s guitar-driven rock, with some classic rock influences, some ‘90s indie vibes, and some entirely new sounds.
I & R
I&R is the music of Josh Cournoyer, a Nashville-based songwriter, bandleader, and recordist. The duality of his New England DIY origins and the collaborative playground that is Music City, his adopted home since 2014, is the connective thread throughout I&R’s recordings and live shows. Hymnal Victoria, the 2024 extended play and follow up to 2019’s Bankrupt City and 2022’s Keep the Sun in Your Eyes, shines with optimism in the face of trying times. Once again the songs are composed, engineered, and produced by Cournoyer with the help of his frequent collaborators, Mike Poorman (Hot Rod Circuit) and Zac Clark (Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness). In contrast with the pandemic isolation of Keep the Sun in Your Eyes, the latest release was intentionally made in community. Hymnal Victoria features contributions from Suzie Zeldin (The Narrative, Twin Forks), Dylan Sevey (The Minks, Ron Gallo), Joe Pisapia (Guster, Ben Folds), Nicole Atkins, and Dave “Squirrel” Covell (Shangri-La Studios). During the writing and recording of Hymnal Victoria, Josh honed his craft contributing to studio recording and live performances with artists like Ben Folds, Robert Finley, and Ian Ferguson.

“The elegantly understated debut from this Brooklyn band does what great, grown-up indie rock at its best has always done: It maps out states of personal, emotional and historical in-betweenness with careful, intelligent grace… Songs […] take their time building from muted beauty to closely held grandeur.”

JOHNNY MANCHILD AND THE POOR BASTARDS
Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards is an American multi-genre ensemble founded by Johnny Manchild (composition, production, vocals, keys), and forming members Ethan Neel (drums), Ben Wood (trumpet), with Alex Coleman on Bass, Isaac Stalling on Guitar, and Eric Neel on Saxophone. Since its founding in 2016, the band took the internet by storm, with a unique conundrum of jazz idioms, alt-rock, world music, and funk that prompted even Anthony Fantano himself (known as “The Only Music Critic Who Matters” by the NYT) ask “what gives them the right to be this good? ” The Bastards have since answered that question, drawing from a dedicated and thriving fanbase that is bound together by a deep love of music, lyricism, engineering and sonic exploration. From their hometown of Oklahoma City to the global stage, each release has been a marked discovery not just for the fans, but the Poor Bastards themselves. With 18+ million streams, 4 albums, and new sonic horizons to be crossed, the Poor Bastards have morphed into a collective of sorts with as many as 10 collaborators (affectionately “Bastards”) in regular rotation, with Johnny Manchild at the helm.

It’s obvious listening to Sarah Shook and the Disarmers’ clear-eyed, biting, and unafraid songs that integrity is the most important thing to the Chapel Hill, North Carolina, country-punk outfit. “A lot of artists are in this industry for fame, recognition, and money but those things don’t mean anything to me,” says bandleader River Shook. “Songwriting is it for me. It’s the only real healthy coping mechanism I've ever had. It’s life-saving. I don't care about any superficial things when I’m making a record.” On their resonant fourth album Revelations, produced by Shook and out March 29 via Thirty Tigers, these raw and resilient tracks come first. Throughout, Shook’s deft storytelling documents regular people getting by and keeping on, all presented without filter or pretension.
In 2022, Shook was remarkably productive. They released two albums: debut solo indie rock record Cruel Liars under the moniker Mightmare (Kill Rock Stars) and a third Disarmers full-length called Nightroamer (Thirty Tigers). Compared to every Disarmers record before that, which captured the in-the-room energy of the band with live recorded songs, the latter LP was instead more of a product of the studio with meticulous tracking sessions and an outside producer. While that effort was well-received, Shook believed the songs on Revelations deserved a more direct approach. “Since the Disarmers started in 2015, our strength has always been in our live performance,” says Shook. “To me, an album should capture the essence of a band. With this new set of songs that are all super special to me, I didn't trust anybody else to capture the songs and decide how to best serve each song.” Shook, who honed their production skills with their Mightmare LP and Izzy Ryder’s debut record, confidently took the reins during a blistering recording session, capturing 10 songs in two days.
For Shook, it was paramount the recordings match the band’s tangible live ferocity because these songs boast their most immediate lyrics yet. “All of my writing is autobiographical, and I write everything based on my observations and experiences,” says Shook. “But there was something about Revelations that felt more personal to me. I unlocked this level of honesty with myself and an ability to be more objective about the things I struggle with daily.” Take the title track, which finds Shook singing about the precariousness of navigating mental health under capitalism. Over a rollicking, twang-hued arrangement, they sing, “Black cloud followin' me around, little storm in my head / Some days I levitate off the ground, some days I can't get outta bed.” The track doesn’t preach or romanticize. Instead, it’s galvanizing and relatable.
These are lived-in stories about real people with real dreams, atmospheric pasts, and inescapable problems. “I think of myself as a collector: I just go around and collect experiences and observations,” says Shook. “I'm still adjusting to writing songs as a sober person but a lot of the themes are just about being a working person and navigating mental health and relationships with other people going through the same things.” Lead single “Backsliders” comes directly from Shook’s life when they were a bartender at a Chapel Hill dive called The Cave. The song is a deceptively breezy romp about workplace romantic entanglements with Shook singing, “Love you like a breath when I ain't workin' myself to death / cause I'm longin' for the ghost of a friend.” On one hand, it captures the closeness that only service workers can experience on the job but on the other, it plainly states how easy it is to fall into bad habits when dealing with any type of loss.
Throughout the LP, there are cathartic, snarling kiss-offs to villainous men (“Motherfucker”) but also moments of tenderness and ecstasy. Shook describes closer “Criminal” as their “gay cowboy song”, the torturous longing of the lyrics is anchored by shimmering guitar leads from Blake Tallent and bastioned by drummer Jack Foster’s hypnotic rhythms. River sings, “If lovin' you will always be a crime I'll always be a criminal.” It’s a triumphant line that highlights Shook’s emotional sturdiness. “That line got me thinking about how we as queer people have been persecuted, and how we so often have to keep all kinds of things under wraps because of the law because of social taboo,” says Shook. “I wanted “Criminal” to portray these feelings of longing and desire that two gay people can have for each other. They're complicated feelings because human beings are complicated. Gay love is every bit as complicated as straight love.”
Revelations is the most assured Sarah Shook and the Disarmers record yet because it so pointedly captures the gamut of the human experience: anger, sadness, confusion, love, and acceptance. It’s a document of Shook at the top of their game and a reflection of their own journey not just as a writer but as a person. “I’m a firm believer that if you are an artist, and you want to make better art, a big part of that isn't just exercising your musical skills, it’s growing as a human being,” says Shook. “So every time I make a record, I want to be able to listen to it and look back on who I was then. I want to see this arc and this evolution. That's really fucking important to me.”
“Billy Liar is one of my favorite songwriters. Powerful and honest.”
–Tim Armstrong, Rancid
In May of 2022, after a year of heavy touring across the US and Europe, Billy Liar and his band barricaded themselves into Big Dog Recordings studio just outside of Antwerp, Belgium with producer Joe McMahon (Smoke Or Fire). For seven days and nights they spilled blood, sweat, and beer into Billy’s new album, emerging only to stock up on more Brussels sprouts and cheap vodka.
The end result is Crisis Actor, a cathartic ripper of a punk record about life, death, breaking up, and barely surviving the pandemic era.
“I feel like we’ve all been living in crisis mode for the past few years,” Billy says about the album’s provocative title. “Hell, I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager. And I feel like a bad actor most of the time, struggling to contain all my anxieties and inconsistencies.”
Billy’s previous album, Some Legacy, earned him high praise from outlets like Brooklyn Vegan, Punknews.org, and Louder Than War. And it caught the attention of one of his favorite artists: solo songsmith Frank Turner. It was a full circle moment when Frank Turner—coincidentally touring through Belgium while Billy was in the studio—joined Billy to record guest vocals on a new track called “Negroni.” A track which, synchronistically, was written with references to some of Frank’s lyrics.
Other guests on Crisis Actor include keyboardist Franz Nicolay (The Hold Steady / Against Me!) and guitarist Joe McMahon (Smoke or Fire). Meanwhile, drummer Robin Guy, who has played with everyone from Faith No More to Sham 69 to the Bay City Rollers, fought through the agony of cancer and chemotherapy to supply the album’s furious rhythm.
The tracks on Crisis Actor run the gamut of emotions, as evidenced by songs like “Hogmanay.” The title is a traditional term for New Year’s Eve in Billy’s native Scotland, and the song blends melancholy themes about drinking and dancing alone with a Celtic-inspired upbeat tune and lighthearted delivery. On their final night in the studio, Billy and his band gathered in the vocal booth for this song, drank heavily, threw each other into the walls, and sang themselves hoarse to create an anthem of triumphant misery.
The emotional peak of the record, though, is the closing track, “Troubled Mind,” which is a stripped-down acoustic confessional.
“It’s a song about owning up to the holes in my brain,” Billy explains. “The lyrics are the rawest I have ever written. So much so that I actually broke down when we were recording it. Which we kept on the album.”
Crisis Actor takes the sadness and sweetness of The Cure and filters it through the angry grit of The Clash and Rancid to create a modern punk album with a wounded heart, belted through a blown out larynx.
Or, as Billy himself puts it:
“It’s an album for the end of the world.”
JOHNNY DYNAMITE AND THE BLOODSUCKERS
John Aaron Morisi better known by his stage name Johnny Dynamite is an American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter. Inspired by the illustrative work of his grandfather, Morisi took on the name of one of his most iconic characters, an anti hero detective from the underworld; "Johnny Dynamite". Morisi started his career playing in bands with DIY self-releases on Bandcamp, playing local shows in his native New York City and building up an audience through extensive touring and festival appearances. His solo debut “Heartbroken” (2020) garnered the attention of Philadelphia's Born Losers Records who released his sophomore effort “Sleeveless” (2021) to critical acclaim from publications such as Post-Punk.com, Under The Radar Magazine, and CVLT Nation.
Over the course of his first two solo albums, Morisi has emerged as a succinct storyteller and songwriter. The character’s inside Morisi’s dream world are lucid, manic, and brimming with pangs of nostalgia. Poised against dark and atmospheric instrumentals, Morisi’s harrowed vocal delivery and lyrics paint a picture of lost youth, hopeless romanticism, and teenage rebellion. Morisi blends many different genres and connects the dots between different pockets of subculture; equal parts glossy new wave and anthemic rock n’ roll. Morisi’s signature beat centric production style incorporates big stadium drum samples, dreamy alternate guitar tunings and ethereal retro synth patches. Morisi’s sound has been compared to legacy acts such as Pet Shop Boys, INXS, and The Cure as well as more modern acts such as MGMT and M83.

MESSER CHUPS
While Messer Chups’ mostly instrumental sound is hard to neatly categorize, it’s safe to say that it would be embraced by fans of rockabilly, horror punk, vintage surf records, Italian slasher films, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Pulp Fiction, lounge music, the theremin, The Cramps, and the theme song from The Munsters. Their catchy music combines surf, vintage Russian melodies, rare film samples from the 50s and 60s, scratchy historical recordings, and lounge loops. Live, they explode with garage-punk intensity, all played against a video-collage backdrop of mid-century trashy cult and horror movie clips featuring Russ Meyer and Ed Wood, and superstars like Vampira and Bela Lugosi in a zombie mash-up.
ABIGAIL LAPELL
Toronto songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Abigail Lapell returns with Anniversary, an evocative collection of original love songs. Produced with Great Lake Swimmers’ Tony Dekker, the album was recorded at 200-year-old St Mark’s Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Dekker helped shape the sessions’ spooky, resonant sound and also lent his voice to a couple of spellbinding duets. Lapell’s deft lyrics jostle with love song tropes, grappling with love’s finitude and the irony of how codependency and longing are revered in popular music. Balancing upbeat earworms with elegiac ballads, Anniversary ultimately emerges as an earnest celebration of commitment. A stellar cast of musicians rounds out Lapell’s powerhouse vocals, piano, harmonica and fingerstyle guitar. The ensemble’s sensitive orchestral country-jazz arrangements feature bass, drums, viola, trumpet and pedal steel along with the church’s own harpsichord and organ.
Anniversary is out May 10, 2024 on Outside Music.

THE BACKYARD COMITTEE
The Backyard Committee is a New Haven band that plays New Haven songs for people who live in New Haven. Our genre is sort of a psychedelic Americana, with some ‘90s-era indie influences, and a heavy dose of improvisation. The lineup is different for each show, but every member is in like 50 other bands you probably already know. Our most recent album is called Surf Hotel Ghosts and it came out in March 2020, just in time for the pandemic. It’s streaming everywhere you might think to stream it.
Our good friend Richard Killeaney (of Glitter Militia fame) will spin tunes during all the times when we’re not playing. A good time will be had by all.

JENNY DON'T & THE SPURS
Since their inception in 2012, the Spurs have kept a relentless schedule of recording, playing locally, and touring. After nearly 500 live appearances in almost a dozen countries, and with a slew of albums and singles to their name, Jenny Don’t and The Spurs are just getting warmed up.
The Spurs were founded one cold, winter’s evening by Jenny and Kelly. Jenny had been fronting her own band, DON’T, for some time, as well as playing the occasional solo acoustic set here and there. Kelly, who had been in a slew of Portland punk bands since the 80’s, and who had spent the previous several years balancing a grueling touring schedule playing drums with the garage rock trio PIERCED ARROWS and bass with Portland punk-rock destroyers P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S., and wanted to switch gears a bit. After the concept of forming a raw, real, and back-to-the-roots country band had taken hold, it wasn’t long before the couple was rehearsing a seminal set of standards by such influential early country crooners and outlaws like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ernest Tubb, and Hank Sr., as well as a sprinkling of originals. It was only a few weeks later that Kelly’s bandmates Fred and Toody Cole got wind of the developing musical project that was taking form in Jenny and Kelly’s kitchen and decided to call their bluff by giving them an unsolicited support slot on an upcoming show featuring the Cole’s own solo two-piece act. Not having anticipated such a high-profile live appearance as a first live outing, and feeling like the guitar-and-bass-only lineup that the band had started life as was lacking something on the rhythm end of things, they decided to ask their friend Sam Henry to join them on drums. Sam, who in addition to being Jenny’s bandmate in DON’T and sometimes solo-set-collaborator, had already had a long, well-respected career as one of Portland’s best drummers, having played with such first-generation punk bands as the Wipers, The Rats and Napalm Beach. After a couple of weeks of practice, the debut live appearance of the band went off without a hitch and the core lineup of Jenny Don’t and The Spurs was born. The trio of Jenny, Kelly, and Sam existed in this form for the first year-an-a-half or so of the band’s existence, playing whatever local venue would take them – bars, clubs, porches, basements, backyards, and even a bookstore. This worked well for a while, and occasionally the Spurs would enlist talent from a pool of several friends to sit in on lead guitar or lap steel. The addition of a second guitar rounded out the sound of the band to the point where Jenny and Co. decided to make it a permanent part of the band’s lineup. After a couple of false starts and a bit of difficulty finding a fourth member who could commit to the Spur’s sometimes grueling touring schedule, the incredible Christopher March became a member of the family in early 2017. Christopher brought with him a wealth of talent and live gig experience, having spent years playing on the Northwest Country, Rockabilly, and Honky-Tonk circuit.
This lineup – Jenny, Kelly, Christopher, and Sam – formed the core of the group for several great years, solidifying the band’s sound and enabling them to tour extensively until January of 2022. It was at this point, while on their winter West coast tour in California, that Sam began experiencing abdominal pains. His discomfort increased to the point where the band had to cancel the last date of the tour in order to get Sam to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. This was devastating news for Sam, the band, and all of the people around the world that loved him, and when, only weeks later, Sam passed away after a brief battle with the disease, everyone was stunned. As saddened and lost as the remaining members of the band were, there was really no question as to whether the band would continue. Sam was truly dedicated to his art until the very end, and there was no way that he would have wanted the band to dissolve. He had dedicated his life to his music and the last ten years of his life to Jenny Don’t and The Spurs, and the surviving members of the band decided without reservation to keep Sam’s legacy alive by continuing to play. The trio has sense welcomed Buddy Weeks to the band and now with him they have been touring non stop. Buddy brings with him a great playing style and has a lot of touring experience under his belt. A perfect fit for being on the road!
With a decade of live appearances under their tooled-leather Western belts, the Spurs aren’t slowing down a bit. The Spurs are a musical force to be reckoned with, and the intensity and energy of their live set is a must-see for anyone who enjoys spirited garage-infused country music played with sincerity and raw conviction.

HILLBILLY CASINO
In a town known for ‘hat act’ pop country, and slick production, the Hillbilly Casino has been working hard. Since 2005, the band has been an anchor of Nashville’s underground roots music community. Booking their own local shows, and touring across the US and Europe with acts as diverse as Brian Setzer, Rancid and Yelawolf, and releasing their own records, The Hillbilly Casino took the best of the DYI ethic from the punk scene, and applied it to their very own brand of real american music.
Drawing inspiration from early rock and roll and blues, to punk, metal and everything inbetween, these four have created a sound and attitude that is unforgettable. Featuring former members of Brian Setzer’s Nashvillains, BR549, and the Blue Moon Boys, The Hillbilly Casino has a roots pedigree that comes through in their writing and playing, and a live show that has blown away audiences from all over the world.

Over 10 years of relentless touring has cemented SASQUATCH as one of the most high gear, powerhouse band leaders around... his bands, The Sick-a-Billys, Holy Hellraisers, Full Moon Boys and his critically acclaimed King Sickabilly 'One Man Band' have all stayed true as far as vocals, lyrics and his fiery guitar-work. Never giving up his song-writing mission... keeping real music alive and dangerous in the under-underground. Risen from a not so forgotten past, when Live Music still meant something and the scene wasn't a Pre-Apocalyptic Ghost Town... bloody fingertips and a soul-haunting voice will deliver you songs about Sin, Love, Murder, Tornadoes and drinking until you wake up under a random barstool.

THE EMPTY POCKETS
Light flickers in even the darkest of spaces and smallest cracks. Similarly, The Empty Pockets ignite a bright flame of their own by harnessing a joyful friction between Americana, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll spiked with roots soul. The Chicago quartet—Josh Solomon [guitar, vocals], Erika Brett [keyboards, vocals], Nate Bellon [bass, vocals], and Adam Balasco [drums]—lean on an unspoken, yet airtight musical dialogue honed by countless miles on the road, performances alongside the likes of Kenny Loggins, a procession of fan favorite releases (including two #1 debuts), and a wealth of memories together.
