Procedure Club is a collaborative "DIY-pop" project founded by Andrea and Polish emigré Adam Malec in New Haven, CT. The two began recording as a natural progression from their boredom with living in poverty, sharing musical tastes in underground, lo-fi pop of the 80s and 90s as well as an admiration for Baroque period classical composers. Long-time collaborator Tim Borkowski recently joined, along with Wes later on, lending further architectural support for Procedure Club's evermore plangent yet disquieting soundscape.
After their releases on Slumberland Records, beko disques (France), and 16 Tamborines (Japan), the band took a hiatus from recording and performing. Their latest effort, Pinky Swear, is a culmination of months and months of recording literally hundreds of lo-fi pieces of music, most of which were shelved, abandoned, unfinished, or lost.
With undercurrents of haunting airiness and mechanical instability, Procedure Club’s latest work is like a ghost driving the Beast Of Turin through a hailstorm. The song structures consist of heavily reverbed melodic vocals, stuttering mechanized drum beats, dirty bass, synths, and alternately washed-out and jangly guitars.
