‘In The Pines’ is a collaborative Americana music series hosted by veteran CT bluegrass group, Audrey Mae, and featuring performances by a roster of rising folk musicians in the Northeast. Experience ‘In The Pines’ at Cafe Nine in New Haven every last Wednesday of the month, starting 1/31/24. The night starts with an open bluegrass jam at 6:30 (musicians get in free!) followed by an Audrey Mae set, followed by a set from that month’s guest act. $10 cover, jammers with an instrument get in free. January's special guest is Five 'n' Change.
Audrey Mae features the duet harmonies of bluegrass veterans Peter Winne and Joe Delillo accompanied by the tasteful stylings of banjo player Joe Lemeris and fiddle & mandolin player Sam McDougle. Despite being a generation apart, Winne and Delillo evoke brother harmony groups such as The Stanley Brothers, The Blue Sky Boys, The Everly Brothers, and yes, even The Beatles. Named after Delillo’s mother, an Alabama belle named Audrey Mae, the band delivers a brand of bluegrass that is at times high octane and at other times just plain … lonesome.
Lilly Bosco is a diamond in the rough. She's that girl tending bar at your local dive who opens her mouth at Karaoke night, and you're like: What the f--k are you doing here? At least that's what Americana music veteran Pete Winne (Audrey Mae, Tumbling Bones) said when he heard her sing. So he put together a band to back her up and show the world Lilly Bosco. Think Wanda Jackson meets The Chicks meets Hozier.
