About the Show and the Artist:

Julai and the Serotones are an 8-piece powerhouse band that bring their high-energy sound to listeners worldwide. The band has appeared on bills with award-winning legends such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, Alanis Morissette, Trey Anastasio, Hozier, Steel Pulse, Gin Blossoms, The Skatalites, Ripe, and more. After hearing the band’s debut studio album, critics have commented, “Driving with outright creative freedom and faultless musicianship, the precision and passion of JULAI and the Serotones reaches unrivalled peaks... Guided by confidently meandering vocals, the Connecticut band showcases a level of unity and colorful optimism that’s unparalleled amidst such a vast group set-up.” Deftly navigating between high caliber improvisation and downright catchy original tunes, the band has a unique ability to bring out the best in every crowd they play for.

Solgyres fuses various influences to present a sound distinguishable to themselves. The band references multiple muses in instrumental and harmony development, taking inspiration from genres like roots reggae, ska, rocksteady, dub, Latin, and jazz. Additional inspiration, such as the punk genre, can be observed in the ethos of their lyricism and live performance. Due to their array of influences in all phases of the creative process, Solgyres has created a musical style unfindable elsewhere, setting them apart from proclaimed reggae and punk-rock.

Siblings Skyelyn and Scott Bernier grew up creating and playing music. Rising in skill as they ended their high school careers, they were allotted the time to record and actualize their passion projects by the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Without a studio or producer, the two taught themselves Logic Pro to present five demos in their first EP, Sol Gyres, by December 2020. They released their second demo EP, Night, in April 2021.

As Solgyres grew, Skyelyn and Scott met various musicians that naturally fit into the band. Solgyres now consists of Zach Neuneker on drums, Scott Bernier on bass guitar and vocals, Skyelyn Bernier on keys, melodica, and vocals including harmonies, Logan Tichnor on lead guitar, Lucia Magnuson on vocals including harmonies, and Jake Russell on rhythm guitar and vocals. Solgyres is set to release a studio album in 2023.
